Those of you who've read Siegemode's About page know that Anticept is the only reason siegemode continues to run; if I had to cover hosting costs AND add content to the site, I would have given up on siegemode and moved on to running adult sites a long time ago. As you can guess, when I heard Anticept is in need of more advanced musical equipment, I felt that I had to help.
Anticept is an arranger and composer of fine music, but his equipment is horribly bad and was apparently designed to make puppies cry when used. As a fellow musically-inclined person, I want to help him get a good MIDI keyboard so that doing musical work isn't a neverending parade of frustration.
Anticept has chosen the keyboard he wants and is on his way to getting it within the next several months, but I want to help him get it sooner. I'm asking those generous visitors to siegemode to join me in sending a few dollars to clahasll@yahoo.com so he can get that keyboard sooner and rock out some phat jams or whatever it is that composers do.
Thanks to Ad-Man from ANI Artemis on NA Ace, Siegemode now has information on nearly every B-Gear skill.
Someone named S. La sent in information on several B-Gear skills, pushing Siegemode ever-so-slightly closer to being completely correct about everything. Thanks, S.!
The engine search page has been updated to use the new search system. This is almost certainly a good thing.
I'm trying out a new search results page that shows more information and makes it easier to compare the important stats of different items. You can check out the prototype at the CPU search page.
Corak has written a fine new guide to the most irritating scenario and sidestory missions. The guide covers ANI-only and shared missions and tells the reader which mission maps are good to keep. You can go right to the guide by clicking here.
Corak (of SCO and AR fame, not Might and Magic fame) has written three new guides, suitable for reading, downloading, or framing.
The first guide is a brand-new starter guide, written to help you help the new Ace Online players in your life, even if YOU are the new Ace player in your life that you need to help! It answers common and a few not-quite-common questions asked by newbies, plus a bunch that newbies should ask but don't.
The second guide is a companion guide: a remake of Corak's CPU Chart, now in HTML format. It's sortable, which is useful for finding those best CPUs without too much effort.
The third guide is another companion guide listing bonus points from missions by level. It's great for the min-maxer in your life, who may very well be you!
We had a bit of a scare today, but thanks to Anticept the problem is resolved and Siegemode.com points to where it's supposed to point, instead of pointing to where it's not supposed to point.
So a certain Mike C. sent me the stats on the Tower defender S-IV over two months ago and I'm just now adding it to Siegemode. Sorry about that.
After a mighty struggle, my work computer has been rebuilt and I can go back to improving Siegemode. Rebuilding the thing cost a lot of money, hint hint.
Some pages got moved around, so if you linked to displayMovie.php or to SiegemodeRSS.php, the links won't get updated and will eventually stop working altogether. Your links should be updated to movie/displayMovie.php and feeds/SiegemodeRSS.php respectively.
I've added the stealth card and the FMSOC, SSOC, and FSOC to the miscellaneous items database for the sake of completeness. I also added the Christmas gift from 2008 and fixed a minor bug.
After several days of tinkering, tampering, and other t-words that mean working, there is now a movie submission form. Meant to make sending in movies easier, this form will alert the Siegemode management to the existence of your movie so that it may be judged. The link to the form can be found just below the list of movies on the movie page.
I tinkered with the site code again. Will you notice? Well, if you linked to one of the formatted guides, I may have broken that link. Again. I know, I'm an asshole. But hey! We have a page for Ace movies! Isn't that nice? You can take a look over there and see the three movies that we have as of the time of this post.
In response to popular-ish demand, I've written up an About page for Siegemode that describes the site's origins in detail and dishes out juicy gossip about the contributors.
If you're the type of person who likes to express strong feelings about trivial matters, I'm soliciting opinions on a possible movie database addition to Siegemode. The forum post about it is here.
I added a bunch of I-Gear skills, then found a bunch of mistakes in the search code that made some searches fail badly. These mistakes should be fixed now. I also fixed a problem with displaying four adhesives that have apostrophes in their names.
If you linked to displayItem.php to show off an item or skill in the database, the link was probably broken by the big update yesterday. Sorry about that.
Siegemode has an RSS 2.0 feed now. Make a live bookmark! Add it to your reader! Know when things happen to Siegemode!
We did a somewhat significant overhaul of the code behind Siegemode.com. There should only be a few visible differences, however:
The Weapons category was split into Standards and Advanceds
Searches themselves are now parameterized, so you can link directly to specific searches
Viewing combined adhesives through displayItem.php now works correctly
I hope that you will enjoy or at least accept these new changes, since they are necessary to ensure the future survival of Siegemode.com. That's what I tell myself, at least.
We just added lots of MG skill info thanks to kryvian, whom no one can deny is an M-Gear on ANI Helix. Give him free stuff because he is a nice guy, okay?
So I found out today that buy shops list all legend armors up to S-III. I'm sure you can guess what happened after that. Also: I fixed a navigation bug. It turns out that for years, clicking on News didn't take you to the main page like it was supposed to. Why doesn't anyone ever tell me about these things?
A priest, a rabbi, and a shaman walk into a bar, but there's no rabbi and there's no shaman and it's actually my eighth birthday and the priest is updating the AG bundle stats. And the priest is me and I'm not a priest.
I updated the bundle stats.
A LOT.
Is anyone interested in translating some of Siegemode's guides into German, French, Thai, Italian or Russian? Yes? No? Yes?
I fixed a problem in which the names of unique CPUs and engines were not colored yellow. I also added the Serpin Twintail to the weapons list.
I've added a few more boss armors and changed some boss item names to note when a certain item is unfinished.
We're back with yet more legend armors. It's mostly BG legend armors, with some AG and IG armors.
I have put up a guide for minerals.
I added some legend weapons and some boss weapons and armor.
All minerals are in, unless you consider catalysts to be minerals.
I've added a bunch of legend weapons and armors. Could Boss equipment be coming soon? Probably not. I can't find those little inventory icons for them.
We've added some more minerals. We've got all of the ores (both basic and high-purity) and some metals.
I've added a new section for minerals, alloys, and ores. So far we have three ores. It's nice. I've also added a few legend items and updated warpoint prices for some items because I figured I should get around to that while I'm doing things.
I think I have added all non-Cash Shop adhesives. Yay!
I added a few more adhesives, including all permanent adhesives like shield generators.
Oh yeah: the "Forum" link over there points to the new Siegemode.com forum. I kinda forgot to mention it. Oops.
I put a PayPal Donate link in the siegemode navigation bar. Yes, I am asking for money. No, I don't desperately need the money. Yes, it is entirely optional. No, I will not think less of you for not donating. Yes, I won't even blame you if you don't donate but spend hundreds of dollars on GFots or whatever you use in your version of Ace Online just so you can own every trail and mark.
I added a bunch of things. It's been so long since the last update that I can't even remember them all. Some of them are temp adhesives, though. I remember that.
I added more legend items and the rest of the enchant cards.
I've added a few more legend items to siegemode.
All non-AG, non-legend, non-boss advanced weapons have been added.
I added some new stuff to skills and weapons. See if you can find them. Or don't.
All Automatic type standard weapons (tails and twintails) have been added. The other non-AG weapons will be added soon. Probably.
Here's the new Siegemode.com. Sorry it took so long to get it out here. We cool, right? Also: StarSiege sent me a new version of his A-Gear guide, updated with Ace Online/Air Rivals-related information.
I have been sick with disease, but work was still being done on Siegemode for some reason. We have a redesign in the works and StarSiege (of StarSiege's FAQ fame) says that the design is much cleaner and more professional than the current design. If StarSiege says it then it must be true, right?
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot clicking here - forever.
The recipes for all warpoint armors have been added to siegemode.
Did you know that for Ace Online, the maximum ranges of all A-Gear standards have been increased? Of course you do. I just told you.
We have added info for unique radars and warpoint armor to Siegemode. Don't ask how I got that info.
Someone asked me to make a forum for Siegemode, so I did. The link is to the left, in the navigation sidebar.
Oops, I lied: That link goes to the A-Gear forums on the SCO forums.
As most SCO players know, SCO is going to close. After some thought, I have decided to continue running siegemode. I will continue to improve it and will update it with information from Ace Online/Flysis. In the meantime, consider nothing on the site to be necessarily correct with respect to AO.
SuperDaddy's A-Gear guide has been added to Siegemode.com
The page on A-Gear guides has been redone, and StarSiege's A-Gear FAQ has been added.
R.I.P. SuperDaddy's A-Gear
We finished adding A-Gear skills a while ago, but I forgot to mention that. On an unrelated note, Siegemode's internal construction is being slightly redone. This should have no effects visible to the normal Siegemode visitor.
We've begun adding A-Gear skills to Siegemode.
All A-Gears engines have been added to Siegemode.
Every A-Gear standard weapon has been added to Siegemode. Adding all of the AG weapons was still less of an ordeal than adding the CPUs or the radars.
All A-Gear advanced weapons and the barest minimum search options required to make these weapons viewable have been added. Whether this is a good thing is debatable.
All cannon type standard weapons have been added and some more search functionality has been added.
I added, um, eight weapons to Siegemode. Yep. Sorting them doesn't work but I doubt that's a pressing problem.
We have added all A-Gear radars to Siegemode.com. This might seem trivial since everyone uses Hover or SOTH, but I wanted it for the sake of completeness.
All known CPUs are now up on Siegemode. Advanced CPU search functionality will be added soon.
All A-Gear armors are now in the database. Furthermore, all of those crazy checkboxes actually let you limit your search results in arguably correct ways. Holy crap!
More updates for Siegemode. Fancy new border graphics thanks to SuperDaddy. New sort-of searchable database of A-Gear armors thanks to me. Just click on "Search Armors" to see all of the armors stored in the database.
Note that while limiting the level requirements will produce the correct results, trying to restrict results based on armor build does not. This isn't a bug; I simply haven't modified the code to use that criteria when searching.
Also note that aside from displaying pictures and names, the search results aren't really good for anything. We're still in the process of determining how to make the search interface more useful.
We're still working on Siegemode.com. No, really, we are.
Welcome to Siegemode.com!
